This piece pin points many of the problems with the NYC Dept of Ed’s stadardized-test-only admissions process for its “Specialized” (read: focus on either mathematics, science, or arts) schools (all except LaGuardia, which obviously requires an auditioning process).
I loved this article. Pointed out exactly why only letting kids into a school based purely on test scores is a certified way to exclude students that would perform on par or even above and beyond.
